Professional Development Week

August 19-23, 2024

The first major event in our Cries from the Anthropocene research cycle is a week-long series of Professional Development workshops facilitated by Margaret Woodward, practicing artist and CSU Adjunct Associate Professor. These will take place on the Charles Sturt University campus in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia, August 19-23, 2024. Participants can choose to attend in person, or via Zoom.

The workshops will focus on ways regional creative practitioners and researchers can work with science and environment knowledge professionals to imagine and design creative works to engage communities in strengthening sustainable thinking and action on the climate crisis. There will be a particular focus on creating works in the digital space, including virtual or augmented reality and accessing and integrating publicly available data into creative works. Science and environment experts and Indigenous elders will collaborate with us as advisors.

Travel and accommodation costs for those wishing to attend in person will need to be self-funded, or supported by individual grant applications (for example from Regional Arts NSW) or be supported by their own universities or organisations. We can supply Letters of Support for your participation on request.

Your EOI (maximum 300 words) may include your artistic/academic background and a brief explanation of why you are interested in participating.
